David Gilbert is a postdoctoral researcher at ICTA-UAB. David’s research focuses on social movements, post-development theory, and environmental change – the focus of his book with University of California Press Countering Dispossession, Reclaiming Land: A Social Movement Ethnography.

David has published research in Antipode, The Journal of Peasant Studies, and The Society for Cultural Anthropology. His work has been featured in The New York Times, National Public Radio, The Times of London, The Guardian, and the BBC, among other outlets. He is active in protest movements across four continents – from Sumatra and Amazonia, to Catalonia and California.
